5 Reasons Why You Should Crochet | Guest Blog

Guest Blog: Kaily Sosa, from Mrs. Hogan's 5th grade class.

Even if crocheting doesn’t sound fun, it actually is! If you ever have time or are bored you should try it! Here are 5 reasons why you should learn to crochet.

1) Relaxation - Crocheting can help you relax because it allows us to relax. It gives one a break from worries about their past, present, or future. When you crochet, the repetitive movement helps calm your mind.

2) Creativity - Crocheting helps you be creative. Say you’re following a pattern and you don’t like the way it turned out last time, or you don’t think the pattern will look good. The pattern will encourage you to use your creative mind to fix it!

3) All Ages - It doesn’t matter how old you are, crocheting is for anyone who wants to do it. Someone could be five years old and be crocheting. If you are barely starting crocheting you can start with yarn and your hands. As you get more experienced, you can move up to hooks. If wanted, you could jump right into hooks.

4) Hand-Eye Coordination - The movement of crocheting, whether you're using your hands or hooks, uses the muscles in your hands. This movement, hand-eye coordination, will increase if you continue exercising it. Humans rely on hand-eye coordination for writing and typing.

5) Make Your Own Toys - As well as having fun and being creative, you can make your own toys! Say you want to make a play set of your own. There wouldn’t be a point in buying it, you can make it! Crocheting benefits more since you can make things for a lot less cost compared to buying it.

So, are you ready to start crocheting?
