Different cuisines provide us a change to everyday food, whether it's the delicious spice and flavor of Indian food, the classic tacos and burritos from Mexico, or the pizza and pasta known all around the world from Italy... Let's take a look at food around the world!

The United States of America

The U.S. is considered a melting pot, because it is mostly made up of immigrants that came to the U.S. However some foods that are common in the U.S. include hot dogs, hamburgers (although they came from Germany, hamburgers are widely eaten in the U.S.), and California Rolls (a type of sushi, but the nori [seaweed] is hidden inside the rice).

Italy

Italian food is comfort food, wherever you live. Although it is Italian food, pizza and pasta are enjoyed all around the world! Other beloved Italian foods include garlic bread, tiramisu, and panna cotta (a Jello-like dessert that is set and can have many different flavors).

France

French food is loved all around the world. One famous food from France is croissants. Although they originated from Austria, croissants became French when people began to make it with puff pastry, which was a French innovation. Other famous french foods include baguettes, crème brûlée (a dessert with a rich custard that has hardened caramelized sugar on the top), macarons, and eclairs.

China

With its distinct flavors and spices, Chinese food is one of the most popular foods eaten around the world. Some delicious Chinese foods include noodles, dumplings/pot stickers, orange chicken, and Chinese fried rice (Fun fact: ice cream actually originated in China, although it is enjoyed all around the world)!

India

Indian food is famous for its strong smells, spices and flavors, whether it's chicken curry spiced up with lots of chili, or the strong garlic flavor of garlic naan! Almost every savory dish in India has a base of tomatoes, chili, turmeric, jeera (cumin seeds), and sometimes onions and garlic as well. Some famous savory dishes include chicken tikka masala (chicken traditionally cooked in a tandoor [a type of oven], served in a spiced tomato curry), shahi paneer (cottage cheese served in a creamy tomato sauce), and samosas (a fried pastry filled with a mixture of spiced potatoes and peas). Some common Indian sweets include kaju (cashew) katli and boondi laddoos (A mixture of sweet spherical balls put together to make one bigger ball).

Mexico

Mexican food is known for spicy flavors with simple, yet super delicious food. Most dishes consist of avocados, bell peppers, tomatoes, beans (or meat), and corn. Some Mexican foods are wrapped in some type of tortilla, such as in tacos or burritos. Some Mexican dishes include quesadillas and enchiladas. Some Mexican desserts include tres leches cake and churros.

These are only a few of the dishes around the world! You may or may not have recognized these dishes, or maybe even cooked some of them (Read "Five Reasons Why You Should Take Up Cooking here)! but no matter where you are or where you live, food is something that brings everyone together!
