With the world transforming and changing faster than it ever has before, many people are transitioning from using a pencil and paper to write things to typing it out. However, others argue that writing by hand is more beneficial for you. Here’s what two of our SaberCats think:

Writing is definitely better than typing for several reasons. First, writing on paper helps you remember what you are writing more easily, making information easier to remember. Writing is also important because you need to learn how to comprehend different topics. You can’t rely on tech for everything. Next, writing is better for your eyesight. Looking at a screen for a long time is bad for your eyes because of the blue light on electronics. It also maximizes strain on your eyes.
For these reasons, writing by hand is more beneficial for your mind and eyes than typing.

Typing is better than writing for various reasons.
First, typing saves a lot of time. Writing by hand takes a lot of time to get your handwriting neat enough to be legible. Many kids and adults need to complete their work on time, so typing is the solution if you are in a rush, and want it to look and be good. Another reason why tech is better than writing by hand is because it will make your writing more organized. When you mess something up on a piece of paper, even after erasing, you can still see some unwanted pencil marks. Whereas while using tech, if you make a mistake, you can just use the delete/backspace button to remove your mistake. This is beneficial especially when you use something permanent on your paper, like a highlighter - you can’t erase that on a piece of paper. With that in mind, many people need to turn in official looking work. So while typing, you can just remove and re-add the highlight on an online document.
For these important reasons, typing is much more organized, quick, and easy than writing by hand.
